Restrictions and Recommendations

The following restrictions and recommendations apply to Juniper Networks SDX Release 6.4.0.

Admin Portals

• On Solaris, use Netscape 6 or later to easily view SAE and ACP admin portals.
• Use Internet Explorer 6.0 or Mozilla Firefox 0.9.3 or later to easily view the Enterprise Manager portal.

CMTS Devices

• The 6.4.0 Release is intended to work with any CMTS device that implements the PacketCable Multimedia Specification (PKT-SP-MM-I02-040930) or the PacketCable Multimedia Specification (PKT-SP-MM-I03-051221).

For PCMM I02, we have tested SDX Release 6.4.0 with:

• Motorola BSR 64000
• Arris Cadant C4 CMTS

Directory Server

Juniper Networks SDX Release 6.4.0 requires an LDAPv3-compliant directory server. Release 6.4.0 was tested with the following LDAP directory products:

• Sun ONE Directory Server 5.2 service pack 4
• OpenLDAP 2.0.18

Any LDAPv3-compliant LDAP server should be usable as an SDX Release 6.4.0 repository, including the following servers:

• eTrust Directory Server 8.1
• Oracle Internet Directory 9.0.4.0.0
• OpenLDAP 2.0.x and later
• Sun ONE (iPlanet) Directory Server 4.1.x and later
• Siemens DirX 6.00
• Siemens DirXee 1.00 and later

Known issues exist with Siemens DirX 6.00 and earlier.

JUNOS Releases

• Juniper Networks SDX Release 6.4.0 has been tested with JUNOS Releases 7.5 and 7.6.
• Juniper Networks SDX Release 6.4.0 is intended to work with JUNOS Releases 6.4 through 7.4 and with the M-series, T-series, and J-series routing platforms.

JUNOSe Releases

• Juniper Networks SDX Release 6.4.0 has been tested with JUNOSe Releases 7.0.3 and 7.1.1 to use XDR mode of the JUNOSe router driver.
• Juniper Networks SDX Release 6.4.0 has been tested with JUNOSe routers versions 7.0.3 and 7.1.1 to use COPS-PR mode of the JUNOSe router driver.
• When using COPS-PR mode of the JUNOSe router driver, we recommend using JUNOSe routers versions 6.1.3, 7.0.2, 7.1.1, or later maintenance releases of those versions. JUNOSe routers versions 6.1.2 and 7.0.1 do not have production quality support for COPS-PR mode.
• When using the SDX software to support IPTV applications, we recommend using JUNOSe routers versions 6.1.3, 7.0.2, or later maintenance releases of those versions.

Multiple Classifiers in Policy Rules

The feature Multiple Classifiers in Policy Rules has not been fully validated. If you encounter any issues when you use this feature, contact JTAC.

RADIUS Server

Juniper Networks SDX Release 6.4.0 was tested with the following RADIUS server products:

• Merit RADIUS 4.1.2

Any RADIUS product compliant with RFC 2865 and RFC 2866 should be suitable for use with SDX Release 6.4.0, including the following products:

• Juniper Networks Steel-Belted Radius/Service Provider Edition (SPE) server
• Interlink Networks RAD-Series RADIUS Server 6.0 and later
• FreeRADIUS Server Project freeRADIUS server
• Open System Consultants Radiator

Known issues exist with Steel-Belted Radius/SPE 4.0.3 and earlier.

Solaris Operating System Requirements

The SDX software must be installed on a Sun Solaris host that is running Solaris 9 or 10 operating system with appropriate OS patches.

Web Application Servers

We have tested the following application server with the SDX Web Admin applications:

• JBoss 3.2.6 (http://www.jboss.org)

The following applications should also work with the SDX Web Admin applications:

• BEA WebLogic Server. Version 7.0 (http://www.bea.com)
• Oracle Application Server. Version 9.03 (http://www.oracle.com)
