Service providers are migrating traditional services, such as voice, from legacy networks to IP networks, making them more dependent on their IP networks to assure the delivery of revenue-based services. But IP networks are inherently not as secure as legacy networks and are susceptible to threats including denial-of-service (DoS) attacks, worms, viruses and Trojans — all of which can interfere with or even completely stop a critical service from working.
