Juniper Networks Unified Access Control (UAC) is built on our award-winning, field-tested, best-in-class security and access control products. Open and standards-based, UAC leverages existing enterprise network infrastructure, components, and software to reduce complexity and costs, while increasing operational efficiencies. It's adaptable and scalable to meet the network access control requirements for businesses of all sizes.

At the heart of the UAC is the Infranet Controller (IC), our hardened, centralized policy management server. The IC works with the UAC Agent to combine user identity and device security information with network location to create a unique access control policy per user and per session.

The UAC Agent can be preconfigured and provisioned in real time by the Infranet Controller, installed using Juniper's installation service, or deployed by other means, and is available in three forms:

• Dynamically downloadable agent: Supports the most popular enterprise computing platforms, including Microsoft Windows Vista
• Dynamically downloaded lightweight agent: Offers cross-platform support for Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS, Linux, and Solaris platforms
• Agentless mode: Delivers cross-platform support to secure Mac OS, Linux, and Solaris platforms when client downloads are not possible

The UAC Agent delivers 802.1X functionality from Juniper Networks Odyssey Access Client (OAC) as well as Layer 3–7 functionality, including an integrated personal firewall for dynamic client-side policy enforcement.
